Rules for Family Day and Graduation
The problem with this schedule and trying to fit a marriage in, is that South Carolina requires a 24 hour waiting period between applying for a marriage license and issuing it. But…you’re in luck. Because Richland County now allows you to apply for your marriage license online. You DO NOT have to apply in person. You apply online and they mail it to you.
Apply for a marriage license from Richland County.
However, the catch is you have to apply at least one week before the graduation date so you can get the license in the mail. So don’t delay.
Here is your timeline.
1. Apply for the license a minimum of 2 weeks prior to graduation to ensure received on time.
2. Make an afternoon appointment with us for the day of graduation. There are numerous locations on base that are absolutely beautiful for a ceremony and free of charge. I recommend Semmes Lake or Centennial Park! (I am an authorized military patron so I can already be on the installation.
3. Bring your marriage license and photo identification.
4. Show up to the appointment. We perform the ceremony, fill out the paperwork, and file the paperwork.
5. That’s it. You’re married!
